about
This song was lovingly conceived at Sunrise Lodge, located in the interior of British Columbia between Golden and Revelstoke. Four musicians were invited to be a part of Cabin Jams, a film about bringing professional athletes and musicians together in a back-country setting to ski, experience the natural world and write songs about the experience.
Crafted over a two day period, Think I'll Stay began with loose ideas scrawled onto clipboards. The song began taking shape over the kitchen table as the subject and melody were planted, shaped, pruned, debated and discovered. We celebrated the completion by recording the song entirely outside a few days later in -20C weather as the sun rose over the incredibly beautiful Esplenade range.
What you hear on this recording is four voices and one guitar all recorded at the same time, trying not to shiver around two microphones.
lyrics
Sun comes up, feet go down.
Throw myself to the push and the pull of this old town.
Fall in line, fade away.
Hard is the way it is for another day.
Though I climb, sink like a stone.
Spend my days in the maze and in the end I'm still alone.
Something lost, something gained.
Seems like hard is the way it is for another day.
Running and Running and Running and I get nowhere.
(I get nowhere, I get nowhere)
Running and Running and Running and I get nowhere.
(I get nowhere, I get nowhere)
Running and Running and Running and I get nowhere.
Fall behind, miles ahead.
Sick and tired of the rat race running on through my head.
Pack my bags and leave today.
Sun comes up, feet go down.
Dig my toes deep down in the earth of this new ground.
Found my home, think I'll stay.
Hard is the way it is ain't the only way.
Hard is the way it is ain't the only way.
